Bengaluru, Sept 4 (UNI) union Minister HD Kumaraswamy today hailed the Narendra Modi government’s decision to implement major reforms in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system, calling it a “historic Diwali gift to the nation.”
In a statement, Kumaraswamy said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the union Cabinet has approved the “next-generation GST reform,” which is a transformational step towards easing the lives of citizens and strengthening the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The Minister noted that the new structure will simplify GST into just two slabs — 5 per cent and 18 per cent. Essential items of daily life, healthcare, education, agriculture, and automobiles will become more affordable under the new regime, he said.
He further stated that the reform will provide a major boost to enterprises and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector.
“This is a truly people-centric reform that simplifies and streamlines the system, making it easier and bringing happiness to every household across India,” Kumaraswamy added.
